Case Overview

A client contacted us following a troubling incident during international travel. He had previously been subject to an INTERPOL Red Notice, which he believed had been successfully removed. However, while attempting to enter a country in the Middle East, he was unexpectedly denied entry — raising concerns that the Red Notice may still be active or may have been reclassified as another type of INTERPOL alert, possibly a Blue Notice.

The client had received no official confirmation regarding a new notice, but the travel denial suggested that his data might still be present in INTERPOL systems. This uncertainty prompted him to seek legal support to verify his status and avoid future disruptions.

Legal Strategy: Identifying and Addressing Blue Notices

INTERPOL uses a range of notices beyond Red — including Blue Notices, which are often used to locate, identify, or collect information about a person without requesting arrest or extradition. These notices can remain active quietly and may still trigger border alerts, particularly in countries that treat them with precautionary seriousness.

Under the guidance of Dr. Anatoliy Yarovyi, we initiated a full legal and procedural audit of the client’s INTERPOL profile by filing a request with the Commission for the Control of INTERPOL’s Files (CCF). Our goal was to determine whether any data — including a Blue Notice — remained in the system after the Red Notice was removed.

We also reviewed previous documentation relating to the deletion of the Red Notice to assess whether INTERPOL’s removal procedures were properly completed, and whether any residual data might have been retained or converted.

As part of the process, we advised the client on temporary travel precautions and provided legal documentation that could be presented to border authorities to clarify his situation if stopped again.

Result

The client’s data review request was formally accepted, and we are now awaiting a detailed response from the CCF. In the meantime, the client received comprehensive legal guidance on how to travel safely and what jurisdictions may pose a risk. Our team also initiated the legal procedures necessary for the verification and, if applicable, full removal of any Interpol Blue Notice.

Thanks to proactive legal measures, the client is now in a significantly better position to navigate international travel and restore confidence in his legal standing.
